Two posts in one day. I have a reward waiting for me when I finish my swap obligations. The Farmer's Wife Sampler QAL which I believe will be the largest QAL in web history to date. There is the Flickr Group and tying in with that the Yahoo Group which will help line you out on about any issue. I thought I would be able to start on time but not to be. Bees, Swaps and Projects.Hello friends. Where does the time go? How do some of the quilters and crafters get done in a week what takes me a month (or more) to complete. I think we all have a style. My style is circling the wagon. I get an idea and I drive myself crazy planning it. I can get quite carried away. By the way have you all seen Tula Pink's quilt Spacedust? Oh my. There are no words.

I am at the age where parents are beginning to be an issue. For the past two weeks I have had my mother in law with Alzheimers to give my husbands brother and sister in law a break. Even though I am a nurse by profession it is not a job for the weak at heart or anyone with a hobby...like sewing. I know...I am usually not caught dead in there unless it is an emergency. I decided to get an inexpensive camera, holding out for big daddy at Christmas. I chose a Fuji. Honestly out of all the cameras I tried it had the sharpest pics and ease of use. Here is the kicker to this story. I have been on vacation, going back home to Tulsa for the last week. It was wonderful to see all of my friends, family and especially my two year old grandson Jackson. He is really something else. I cannot believe how much he reminds me of my daughter and the love I feel for him is so similar. I will not go on and gush but I was looking forward to sharing some pictures lesliehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18020936404852188114noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4367171680003346357.post-22897246708303498372011-05-12T12:43:00.000-04:002011-05-13T16:26:12.460-04:00MUGRUGS!!!!Hi, ya'll! Okay, I will say I have never made a mugrug or a dollquilt before but....WOW....instant gratification. I am intrigued although I suppose you could only make so many. With my first mugrug swap pending and an additional present needed for my mother for Mothers Day I decided to try my hand. I could use a little practice like all of my projects but these were super fun.

I went with the Me + You quilt as I had agreed with a friend to make one. We both got very busy and I completed it last night. I finished it but while I am looking through the other blocks there are quite a few of these. They are based on Oh Fransson's Mod Mosaic Pillow. It is also a wee bit time consuming. I have to start at the beginning. To make a long story short we just had a wave of bad luck since the last post so I apologize for the lack of anything resembling cuteness. I am working on that now. My poor husband had several heart stents, had multiple complications, Christmas came and I was flying from Oklahoma and back over and over.

As a new quilter I have been watching blogs, joining bees, forming guilds all with the best of intentions.
There is one huge GLARING problem that I am willing to disclose to you. I cannot bring myself to cut into my fabric. I mean REALLY cut into it. Take my bee blocks. Here are the last six I made. It is so easy to get bogged down. I often wonder how some of the bloggers have time to turn out the quilts they do at the rate they do. I have no idea why my clock runs slower but it does.
I do tend to get into projects that are of no interest in blogging about. Such as special projects for people that choose what fabrics or things they want. I do not blog on those. Maybe I should.

I have the definite opinion that it takes a lot of practice. I got much better with the second quilt but perfection is far, far away.
Jackson is my grandson and his quilt was the first i ever made. I used the scraps from his brown bear quilt to make a wall hanging. He moved to a bigger room and his walls looked empty. We can't have that.

If you have been bitten by this bug then you understand. I spend a lot of time looking at fabric. The majority of my time if the truth be known. But I never get tired of it. I also buy a lot of fabric...because you never know when it will go away...right? Let us take time for some fabric love.....ready?

I think this is the end of summer. It has been an unusual summer. I did none of the things i usually do in the summer and things did not go like i thought they would (some surprise : ) )...my tomotoes are just now ripening but they are the size of golfballs. I have heard others say the same but let us say hurray for some things.
